If you are looking for a restaurant with something special to offer by way of ambiance then La Herradura might be just what your looking for. To an Englishman this restaurant looks authentically Spanish, set back from the road (CV 945) the restaurant is built round a courtyard dominated by a large palm. This forms one of two outside dining areas for those sultry summer evenings.

Inside you also have a choice of dining room, so no matter whether you are out for a romantic evening with just the two of you or in a large party there is a space especially designed for you. Check their website (there is a link from their listing here) it has some great photos.

The menu is international with a Spanish twist, sea food lovers will have plenty to choose from. Whilst we were perusing the menu we were offered little caviar appetisers, a nice touch. I chose timbales of mushrooms with rochefort cheese followed by sea bass in puff pastry. Both choices were enjoyed but the lack of imagination with regard to the vegetables let the main course down slightly. My partner was less successful in her choices, being English we do not expect our pork to be prepared rare.

The desserts were fine, profiteroles and a form of orange cake with chocolate and cream. The service was very friendly and efficient we felt as though we were welcome, always a good thing I feel, but it never ceases to surprise me how many restaurants forget to switch on the charm with their guests. Would I return? Yes. Can I recommend this restaurant? Yes. Please go and sample what La Herradura has to offer, it's a little different from the majority. Our three course meal with drinks before and wine during the meal came to €79.
