Let me say from the start, that over the past year Cote Jardin has become my favourite restaurant on the Costa Blanca and indeed anywhere. Ludi & Julien have created the perfect dining experience from the welcome you receive as Ludi greets you to the truly mouth watering food that chef Julien prepares for your approval. In fact the whole team are worthy of a mention here well done Ludi, Julien, Virginia and Franck.

Cote Jardin is a small restaurant with the informality of a brasserie. The ambiance is warm and friendly, you will find it to be the perfect venue for a meal with friends, a romantic night out or a family gathering. You will always feel special. The menu is a delight, look out for the chef's specials when available they are certainly worth trying. I have come to trust chef Julien to the point where I will try whatever he prepares even if previously elsewhere I have not enjoyed a particular dish.

On this occasion I chose the following:

Starter - Pate de foie gras (Chef's Special)

Main - Swordfish

Dessert - Creme Caramel

Wine - House white.

As always while waiting for our starters we were served warm bread rolls with allioli, a weakness of mine. Excellent! Then onto the foie gras, this was served on a bed of lettuce with walnut toast and fig jam. What an amazing combination! Bring on the main course, oh I almost forgot. Between the starter and main we were presented with a little teaser. A Gazpaccio Smoothy, served in a glass with tomato and mozzarella cocktail sticks, superb.

I have had swordfish at a number of restaurants on the Costa but none have impressed, the fish being dry and leather in every case. I was about to give up when I tried Julian's. This swordfish is so far removed from what I had experienced before. Moist but firm, succulent the flavours are all right there on your tongue. As with all good restaurants the house wine was a good accompaniment, fruity, medium dry perfect.

Finally the dessert, I have had Julian's creme caramel before so I knew what to expect. Crisp caramel skin under which is the creamiest base I have experienced. I have awarded five rosettes to Cote Jardin which they consistently deserve, well done to the whole team! It should mention that my three companions on this visit also enjoyed truly memorable meals and will be back again and again.
