Don't let appearances put you off, this is a large restaurant space with a small stage set on the left hand wall as you walk in. The warmth of greeting from Mansol our waitress for the evening was very genuine. There are a number of restaurants offering Argentinian steak in the region, this individual family run business is very different in a good way. The owners and chefs are from Argentina along with the cuts of meat. The menu is not restricted to just steaks. You will also find pork, veal, chicken, lamb and fish on the mains. However I was there to try the steaks. I'm very fussy about my meat, as a son of a butcher I demand flavour above everything. My choice was as follows;
Starter - Tomates Rellenos (tomatoes stuffed with sweet corn & tuna) Main - Bandoneon (Filet steak with a choice of sauce) Dessert - Sorbete de limon Wine - Agentinian Trapiche - Pinot Noir Oak. While we were waiting for our starters we were offered bread rolls with an amazing butter mixed with peppers, garlic and parsley, couldn't resist. The Tomates Rellenos was slightly too much, the tuna being mixed with mayonnaise was more than a starter. This was my first taste of Trapiche Pinot Noir and it won't be my last, a wine with 'legs'. Very fruity and an ideal accompaniment for the steak and what about the steak! I asked for caramelised fried onions as a side insead of a sauce, to me these two things have to go together. Wow! it was just what I had hoped for. Cooked medium rare the flavour was exceptional, this tender cut of meat was close to the best I've sampled. Well done chef! There are lemon sorbets and then there is Sorbete de limon Che Tango style, just try it, the mix with a fair share of champagne is the perfect finale to a great meal. I awarded four rosettes to this restaurant it misses the top spot just, I can't put my finger on it but there was just something that prevented me from adding that final rosette. You must try this restaurant it has certainly gained a place on my list of restaurants to visit again. Go to this restaurant? Click here. |
