Los Montesinos translates as 'the wild ones', and owes its name to the local family of nobility that governed the destiny of the lands where the village is located. From the reforms of the Cardinal Belluga the area of the Low Vega was prospering and with it Los Montesinos, up to the present day. The territorial demarcation of Los Montesinos, belonged to Almoradí's municipality from S.XVI, until the year 1990, in which it finished the traditional guardianship that this population had exercised. In effect, by means of Decree 140/90 of the Cosell of the Valencian Autonomous government of Catalonia, Los Montesinos was granted the status of an independent municipality.
